Hi there lovelies! In honor of National Nutrition Month, I decided to take a quick minute to send you a couple of resources on diet and nutrition coming straight from our governmental agency and end with some *healthspirations* to get your food spending in alignment with your belief systems.
There are many reasons to decide to run a half marathon. You may have decided to lose weight. It may be the natural progression in your running career. Maybe someone dared you to do it or you’ve temporarily lost your sanity. Or maybe you just want to prove to yourself that you can do something that seems impossible.
When you make the decision to put you first at any part of the day, you feel empowered and in control of your life. Traveling for work at someone else’s calling can feel a bit overwhelming and frustrating when you aren’t calling the shots. It is important to find ways to feel like you are still in charge of your life. Running can be that outlet for you and may even be the gate to you reaching your happiest and healthiest self now as a road warrior.
Being vegan is about so much more than just not eating meat or animal-based products; it’s about caring for everything around us and making even one, small decision with someone or something else in mind. It’s about embracing compassion and realizing the power each one of your decisions holds. And you don’t even have to make vegan-ish decisions all of the time; even just one a day counts and makes you a part of this wonderful movement.
Nobody (initially) likes the idea of limiting the intake of certain delicious foods. You work hard and deserve to indulge in the foods on your plate; however, if you are wanting to change your habits to achieve a happier and healthier you consider indulging oven-baked potato wedges instead of duck fat french fries, or switch from the chocolate mousse cake to the cacao-banana smoothie; you have the power. Within a matter of weeks, your body won’t want the fried foods or triple-cream cheese. Your body will crave the tart greens and sweet fruits, and your brain with new-found willpower will be there as your body guard when temptations arise.
Planning ahead becomes a treasure hunt. When you see it as a FUN challenge for you to overcome, nothing can stop you from owning that challenge, in fact, dominating that challenge. After all, we are talking about your blood pressure and waistline! You have no problem prioritizing other’s needs, what about dabbling in yours from time to time?
