So how do you stay healthy while wining and dining customers and living off of 3 hours of sleep per night? Great question! Here are some “rules” I came up with for myself, or was wisely advised by other experienced conference masters:
When you make the decision to put you first at any part of the day, you feel empowered and in control of your life. Traveling for work at someone else’s calling can feel a bit overwhelming and frustrating when you aren’t calling the shots. It is important to find ways to feel like you are still in charge of your life. Running can be that outlet for you and may even be the gate to you reaching your happiest and healthiest self now as a road warrior.
Planning ahead becomes a treasure hunt. When you see it as a FUN challenge for you to overcome, nothing can stop you from owning that challenge, in fact, dominating that challenge. After all, we are talking about your blood pressure and waistline! You have no problem prioritizing other’s needs, what about dabbling in yours from time to time?
I get asked most about how I was able to maintain my diet and weight while traveling. Also, about how I was able to eat healthily while on planes and trains and in hotels and foreign cities. I have decided to start a series around eating healthy while traveling and how to take steps towards achieving your healthiest and happiest self as a road warrior.
